A main aspect of my family is that we're skiers. My dad learned to ski sometime in the late 1970s and helped start the Oxbow Water Ski Show Team in 1980. He taught my mom how to ski but she was not as interested in taking part but always loved to watch all the water festivities like what is pictured above. This was in the early days of the Oxbow ski team and they decided to figure out how many people could fit on a single ski. I think they got 5.

When my brother, Nick, and I were born, we were immediately members of the same ski team. I was informally introduced to the skiing world when I was 9 months old and my dad held me when he went out on the water. In the picture below I was probably 7 years old, skiing with my dad, brother, and two other people from the Oxbow.

My family isn't part of the Oxbow team anymore but we still are closely tied to the skiing community. My mom has worked as a judge and held other staff positions at the national show ski competition in Wisconsin as well as Wisconsin state tournaments.

And we ski fairly regularly during the summer too
